All of the courses are held at our centre in Milnsbridge, Huddersfield, unless otherwise stated. Our training is held in a pleasant, peaceful environment, and our training rooms are well equipped.
We run two day conferences as part of these courses, on specific subjects, and these include:
- Advanced Counselling Skills
- Cognitive Behavioural Therapy
- Working with Sexual Trauma
- Homosexuality
- Eating Disorders and Addictions

What can you gain from the UCHM training courses?
There is an increasing demand for counselling skills, both in the modern workplace and in the wider community. We are able to offer a high quality training programme for pastoral carers, Christian counsellors and all who wish to work with the spiritual dimension of counselling.
Content
Our courses are flexible, modular courses designed to train Christian counsellors to professional standards, but accessible at levels 2 and 3 to pastoral carers and all who work with people . The full training programme at UCHM consists of the Introduction course over four weekends, the Advanced Counselling Skills held over 15 months, and the Advanced Diploma course held over two years.
How are the Courses Assessed?
Assessment procedures for the course units include essays, video and audio tapes, supervisors' assessment, peer group assessment.
The course moderators are appointed by Open College Network.
UCHM’s Training Standards Committee makes recommendations for certification.
