What is UCHM?

 

United Churches Healing Ministry is a Christian Counselling Service, Counsellor Training College and Resource centre, which is based in Huddersfield, West Yorkshire.  We are based in Milnsbridge, approximately 3 miles from Huddersfield town centre.  The centre is usually staffed between 9:15am and 5:00pm, Monday to Friday, but appointments can be made outside of these times to suit your needs.

  

We are a Registered Charity formed in 1992 to further the work of the Lord in the area of Christian Counselling. We are affiliated to BACP & ACC and work according to the BACP Ethical Framework.  We are a BACP Accredited Counselling Service. 

 

Objectives of the Charity

  • To promote and protect the good mental health of people resident in the United Kingdom, in particular in the county of West Yorkshire, by the provision of a Christian counselling service.
  • To advance education by providing facilities for the training of Christian Counsellors.
  • To promote good standards in pastoral care for the advancement of the Christian Faith throughout the United Kingdom, with regard but not restricted to, the county of West Yorkshire.

Counselling Service

We offer Counselling to anyone in need, you do not need to be Christian.  Our counselling can help you work through difficulties such as mental, emotional and physical illnesses, bereavement and loss, depression and low self esteem.  All our counsellors are either ACC or BACP accredited, or are in training for accreditation.

 

Counsellor Training

We also have our own counsellor training programme to train Christians to be Christian counsellors.  We run three courses, Introduction to Christian Counselling Level 2, Advanced Counselling Skills Level 3, and the two year Advanced Diploma in Christian Counselling Level 4.  All our courses are ACC recognised and OCN accredited.   We are also an OCN Accredited Training Centre.

 

We also offer Continuing Professional Developmentin a wide range of subjects, at reasonable prices, for counsellors looking for training in specific subjects, and a pastoral care programme, for those who want to help people, but who don’t want to be counsellors.

 

The Ministry

Room Hire

We also have a variety of rooms for hire, from conference/training facilities to group rooms, and also a Sports Hall.  We also have a counselling room for hire.  For more information click here
